Manager, Health and Safety

It is the primary responsibility of the Health and Safety Manager is for planning, establishing and maintaining all required health, safety and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. A self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with an operation and maintenance team. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices and procedures.
Develop, implement and manage Safety Compliance and Training Programs.
Evaluate training effectiveness and track training.
Manage the implementation of regulatory programs.
Ensure appropriate testing and maintenance of all fire safety equipment including fire extinguishers.
Effectively delivers occupational safety and health training. Speaks in front of large groups as required to teach safety classes.
Serve as liaison to corporate, regulatory agencies and other third parties relative to safety programs.
Plan, schedule and administer property safety committee meetings. Chairs the property safety committee which meets monthly to discuss important safety related issues.
Consistently and frequently tours site to identify property occupational safety and health hazards.
Ensure all employees receive required OSHA-mandated safety training and recurrent safety training.
Attends management meetings to discuss safety initiatives, as necessary.
Works with other departments on developing safety programs and inspections.
Orders safety related products needed and budgeted for.
Works closely with OSHA and Fire Department on safety inspections of the property.
Reads and understands blue prints and complex property maps.
Enforce all policies, fire and safety related codes, and applicable State, County, Federal laws and regulations.
Perform all other job related duties as requested.
Bachelor's degree in related field.
At least 5 years of safety program administration experience.
Excellent customer service skills with a proven track record for writing and administering safety programs and projects.
Able to teach and mentor managers and leaders effectively.
Must have excellent people skills.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays at times.
Must have an intermediate level of knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Able to effectively communicate in English, and preferably Spanish in both written and oral forms.
Certifications or training from an OSHA recognized safety organization on required safety programs including Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Fire Extinguisher, Hearing Conservation, Lockout / Tagout, Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection
Possess American Heart Association certification for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid certification.
Certification and competency level in Confined Spaces and Fall Protection trainings.
Previous experience working in a similar resort or hospitality setting a plus.
Bilingual communication skills highly preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
